"Life is better when you dance."
I think there are few better ways to stay fit then through dance; it is my first passion. I have been dancing since I was 6 years old and first started out learning ballet and jazz. I then pursued training in the classical Indian dance form known as Bharatnatyam.
In high school I was the captain of my high school's bollywood dance team. In college, I learned the punjabi folk dance known as bhangra and competed nationally with two teams; one co-ed and one all girls.
To the right is a picture of me in competition and below are dances that I have choreographed. The bottom left is dance from my nephew's welcome home party and to the right is a dance I choreographed and taught during my tenure as captain of GW Bhangra.
For me, dance has so many meanings. It is my choice form of physical activity for both body and mind. It is also a connection to my culture and a door to the part of my soul that only awakens with the sound of a beautiful beat.
